Scandinavia: Iceland, 1873-1961, a magnificent mint collection, with hundreds of mint stamps, souvenir sheets, booklets, postal cards and stationery of the highest quality including almost all rarities. Housed in two albums of well-designed pages with numerous Scott unlisted shades and varieties, with some stamps on the original auction lot sheets and a number of certificates are also noted. Certainly, by far the finest collection of Iceland that we have had the pleasure to offer completely intact. Highlights in volume one are mint virtually all o.g. with some N.H. throughout. We note Scott numbers 1-30 are present with additional shades #4 with Grønlund certificate and all are well centered and fresh, followed by the scarce 31-33, 33A, the 20th century is close to complete with almost every scarce single set. We note the "Þjonusta/Frimerki" se-tenant pair variety in the King Christian definitives, Scott 53 with Nielsen certificate and 63 with Møller certificate plus signed Bloch. Also noteworthy are numerous inverted overprints. Officials include Scott 3-71 again with shades and varieties. We also note the rare airmail "Hopflug Itala 1933" overprint set is included. All followed by Volume 2 containing rarely offered Iceland early postal cards, reply cards and letter sheets and again in superior quality. Scandinavia: Sweden, 1855-2011, an extensive mint collection for advanced collectors, housed in three Stender albums with all stamps in black mounts. One of the best mint collections of Sweden we have seen in some time, with some exceptional centering on the early material. Just a few stray used of shade varieties, otherwise all mint and complete from 1924 on. Some of the better items: #LX1-2, 2, 6-12 (8& 12 with certs), 13-16, 17, 19, 20 (also the blue-gray variety with cert (Facit #20b)), 22, 25-27, 28-36, 38, 40-49, 52-65, 66, 67-73, 77-94, 145-163, 164-166, 194-196, 197-212, 213-228, 229, B11, B12-21, J1-11, J12-22, O1-10 (o9 with cert), O8a, O12-25, and many more like the semi-official airmail from 1912 (Facit #HF1), inverted surcharges on the first set of airmails (C1a-3a), as well as on B26, B28, B30. A couple of incorrect surcharges as footnoted in Scott such as the 12ö + 8ö on B2 (Facit # 127 vI) and the 7ö+3ö on B9 (Facit #134v3). Also, much of this collection is in duplicate, as complete panes also have accompanying singles/pairs and many other extras as both ordinary & phosphorus paper, plate varieties, an excellent selection of military reply stamps, test booklets, tourist stamps, Frames, etc. Generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping weight 19 lbs / 8.6 kilos.
Estimate $7,500 - 10,000.
