Iran, 1870-1902, a strong collection of originals and reprints, with many hundreds of mint + used singles, blocks and sheets including some originals, forgeries and reprints noted of the Lion Issue, Sun Emblem, "Official" overprints, Surcharges, Provisional Issues, cancels, shades, and more. If all genuine tens of thousands of dollars in catalog, as is, there is a wealth of information on forgeries and reprints all extremely well annotated in a Stanley Gibbons album on quadrille pages published in 1915! Of course, there are also some genuine copies throughout. It appears that the previous owner had an expert critique the collection with pencil notes on many pages. It is a fascinating compendium of early Iran issues and certainly of value to any serious collector or dealer in this field as it will greatly enhance any collection or inventory. Generally Fine to Very Fine with a few faults.
Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.
