Adams & Co., 1853, stampless folded letter, with blue double-circle "ADAMS & CO / SAN FRANCISCO / JUN 28" handstamp cancel, very fine strike of this scarce cancel, addressed to Dr. Ward, Assistant Secretary of State, 2 file folds mentioned for accuracy, on original exhibit page which reads: "U.S. 1853 local handstamped cover with a bluish green Adams Company Express, San Francisco circular hand stamp cancel, "SAN FRANCISCO ADAMS & CO / SAN FRANCISCO / JUN 28", otherwise Very Fine and fresh.

Adams & Co was started in September, 1849, operating only on the Pacific Coast, until 1854 .
