Lote 1 o New York, N.Y., 1846, 5¢ black on bluish, signed "ACM" connected, double transfer in "POST" (Scott 9X1 var.), position 23, ample margins all around, neat blue pen cancels, Very Fine, with 2004 P.F. certificate. Estimate $500 - 750 Scott prices several double transfers (all at $525), but does not price this position. Stanley Piller's book on the New York Provisional refers to the double transfer as a printing "shift" resulting in dots in the top label and also in "FIVE CENTS" . |
