1852, 3¢ Washington, dull red, type II (Scott 11A), in a very dark shade between deep claret and plum, 3 large margins, used with blue oval ROUTE 7309 agent's handstamp on a 3¢ Nesbitt entire (U10), addressed to New Orleans. Mended cover tear on the reverse inside flap, still Very Fine, a lovely cover from the well-known Buchanan-Carroll correspondence, ex-Carroll Chase.
