Ishikawa, Ryohei, The U.S. Stamp 1847-1869: the Ryohei Ishikawa Collection, 1982, hard bound, magnificently illustrated in full color with 148 pages. Ishikawa went to great lengths to get the shades as correct as possible and this may be the best reference in existence for the colors of the 1847 issue. Originally published at $200 and sold out quickly.
